This July, we gathered for something truly special—a private makeup party just for us.
No posed selfies. No glamour shots at the end to share. Just naturally beautiful women embracing their enhanced beauty, fully present in the moment. We did capture the details—the food, the setup, the brushes laid out with care—but the focus wasn’t on taking pictures. It was on us.
Because some moments aren’t meant for the feed; they’re meant for the heart.
With the help of our wonderful makeup instructor, we learned the shapes of our eyes, how to color correct, and the difference between when to sweep a brush and when to dab. We practiced applying eyeliner, blending blush, and finding lipstick shades that flatter every skin tone—and so much more.
But this day was about more than makeup. Yes, we learned new skills—but at its heart, it was about self-care, self-love, and the importance of carving out time just for ourselves. The theme of the afternoon was reinvention: honoring who we are today while embracing the journey of who we are still becoming.
At Her Chosen Village™, we believe true beauty begins within. It’s shaped by how we see ourselves, how we care for our well-being, and how we allow others to stand beside us. Feeling safe, supported, and seen is part of that beauty—it’s found in the moments when we lift one another up, breathe life and love into each other, and remind one another of our worth.
Until next time,
Her Chosen Village ™
Our June book club night in Washington, DC was everything—and then some.
Her Chosen Village ™ gathered at Rumi’s Kitchen DC, where we dined on delicious Persian dishes that nourished more than just our bellies—they fed our spirits. The flavors were bold, the laughter came easy, and the connection was exactly what we needed.
Our book of the month, Everything is Tuberculosis, caught many of us off guard. We expected to walk away side-eyeing every cough—but instead, we found a story that was layered, witty, unexpectedly tender at times, and full of moments that sparked deep reflection and rich conversation.
DC brought the heat—literally. With summer temperatures soaring, we did what any joyful, radiant group of women would do: we kicked off our shoes and cooled off in the fountains, reclaiming joy like the carefree beings we are (if only for an evening). We twirled, we splashed, and we soaked in the vibrant energy of the city—wrapped in the color and celebration of Pride Month.
And because no Village night is complete without something sweet, we ended the evening with scoops of gelato from Dolcezza in City Center, strolling and laughing as the night gently settled around us.
It was a beautiful reminder of why we gather: to nourish, to grow, and to simply be—together.
Until next time,
Her Chosen Village ™
