Our June book club night in Washington, DC was everything—and then some.
Her Chosen Village gathered at Rumi’s Kitchen DC, where we dined on delicious Persian dishes that nourished more than just our bellies—they fed our spirits. The flavors were bold, the laughter came easy, and the connection was exactly what we needed.
Our book of the month, Everything is Tuberculosis, caught many of us off guard. We expected to walk away side-eyeing every cough—but instead, we found a story that was layered, witty, unexpectedly tender at times, and full of moments that sparked deep reflection and rich conversation.
DC brought the heat—literally. With summer temperatures soaring, we did what any joyful, radiant group of women would do: we kicked off our shoes and cooled off in the fountains, reclaiming joy like the carefree beings we are (if only for an evening). We twirled, we splashed, and we soaked in the vibrant energy of the city—wrapped in the color and celebration of Pride Month.
And because no Village night is complete without something sweet, we ended the evening with scoops of gelato from Dolcezza in City Center, strolling and laughing as the night gently settled around us.
It was a beautiful reminder of why we gather: to nourish, to grow, and to simply be—together.
Until next time,

Did someone say gelato?
When was the last time you kicked off your shoes and let joy take over? If it’s been a while… consider this your invitation.
